'Everyone's giving me grief' about the series finishing prior to my arrival.

Cricket fans in Australia

Golden sun, savory pies and iconic stadiums - what more could an supporter of the English team ask for?

Well, perhaps an contest for the urn in Australia where they retain a possibility to reclaim the urn after the first three Tests.

This is not the case this time, though, after a comprehensive triumph in Adelaide gave Australia 3-0 up for the fourth consecutive series on Australian grounds.

England's famous supporters' group, England's supporters' group, have a large group traveling for the last two matches in New South Wales and Victoria.

In addition, there are tour groups who will spend the Christmas period overseas, as well as families and friends heading for a dream holiday.

The Disappointed Travelers

A group of four supporters are four such fans.

The group had their travel arrangements and match passes booked for the Boxing Day and New Year Tests "well ahead of time", hoping to witness a historic English victory.

Instead, they have watched Australia defeat England convincingly in just under two weeks from their residence in Penwortham, Lancashire.

"Everyone at work has been giving me grief regarding the concluded contest for the last two weeks," said Sam.

"The hope was that we would have the series on the line upon our arrival."

Fading Positivity

Optimism was high regarding the team's prospects of securing a first win in 15 years for a series win in Australia ahead of the tour.

But they are now looking at the possibility of extending their winless run in the country to 19 games when the Boxing Day Test begins in Melbourne this week.

Ben Stokes' side - and their fans - will be keen to prevent a clean sweep.

Alex said the "thrill and enjoyment" of head coach the aggressive 'Bazball' approach in recent years had "renewed interest in" the five-day game for followers of the team.

Yet the fans said they had low expectations for the remaining matches - and all they are asking for from the players is "a show of spirit".

"Commentators consistently alludes to it, but it all comes down to mental resilience. 'The aggressive approach has been turned into a buzzword now that is just, like, unrealistic play," stated Rory Ryding.

"In a five-day Test match, you should dig in. Chasing balls 'wide of off stump has never been in the coaching manuals, and that is mainly the fault the top order."

Future Prospects

Asked whether he believed England will secure a victory in this Ashes series, Sam said: "It looks like the Australians are superior at the moment."

"It will require multiple performers that stands up for England and produces a match-winning display."

Regardless of the result, the fans are looking forward to the trip.

"It will be a fantastic experience nonetheless," added another sibling. "We must adopt that mindset."

"Obviously it is unfortunate we aren't fighting for more, but we have invested a significant amount by now."

"We will make the most of having Christmas and New Year overseas. It is also mine and Rory's first time abroad during the festive period."

An educator, Katie is focused on enjoying the 21,000-mile round-trip as part of her seasonal break.

"Should the cricket disappoint, I've got golf to turn to," she finished.
